java is anything but academically correct.
academia uses it because it was forced upon them by (a belief that it
would be better to follow instead of leading) the industry. to be
academically correct you should be using puristic object oriented
languages like smalltalk or eiffel.
unless that guy was ironic about the term "academically correct"
