I don't think there's anything wrong with forwarding this part of the 
conversation. I only suggested sending to the non-devel list because the 
audience of users is greater than the devel list.

I can't say I share the love of web-based fora... they're great for 
searching via google (which you can do with mailing list archives) but the 
hassle of creating an account for every little project I'm involved with 
is a non-starter.

Note, though, that you should be able to post to the various pike lists 
through nabble.
