One of the XML programmers will have to answer if it's intentional,
but it's also broken in compatibility mode (try pike -V7.6) so it's
highly likely to be a bug. Please file it in the tracker.
Since it's not a regression since the last 7.8 release I won't hold up
this point release for it unless someone fixes it within the next day
or so.
